The Ancol Ergo Self-Cleaning Slicker is an effective moulting and detangling tool ideal for smooth, silky, long, and short coats.
This tool features bendy pins designed for comfort, which whisk away loose fur while leaving a smooth and neat coat. The slicker's head can be pushed forward to easily remove all of the caught hair.
To use the slicker, slowly and gently brush the hair in the direction of the fur growth. If the dog is comfortable, press gently on the tool to remove more fur from the undercoat. To remove a tangle, isolate the fur and gently pull the slicker through the tangle, starting from the outside and working in. The pins are designed to prevent discomfort, but ensure they are not pressed into the dog's skin.
Grooming is a way to bond with a dog, but those new to grooming should be introduced to it slowly. Begin sessions when the dog is relaxed, such as after exercise. Use tools gently and avoid tugging on the skin, knots, or mats. Provide reassurance throughout the session and keep them brief to begin with, increasing the length as the dog becomes used to the process. Pause or end the session if the dog becomes agitated or shows signs of stress.
